About the film
It is the time of perestroika. Kesha, a young educated man from Leningrad, falls in with a group of homeless men who are offered work in the south. The pay sounds good.
The job turns out to be a trap. The men are taken to a remote camp among the reed beds, where they work for nothing and live under guards. Inside this small, cruel world, Kesha has to decide what kind of man he is.
A hard, honest drama from the last years of the USSR, when films began to show what had long been hidden.
