About the film

Valiko Mizandari, nicknamed Mimino ('falcon'), flies a small helicopter between villages in the Georgian mountains, carrying sheep, cheese and post. He wants more: to fly jumbo jets around the world.

In Moscow he shares a hotel room with Ruben, an Armenian driver played by the great Frunzik Mkrtchyan, and their friendship is the comic heart of the film. Danelia mixes laughter and homesickness, and asks whether success abroad is worth losing home.

Mimino is a warm, very funny film about friendship between nations, and its dialogue in Georgian, Armenian and Russian is part of the joke.
